| Principles of animation:
1. Squash and Stretch
This means changing the shape of a object to show its flexibility and weight. This can be shown either on a ball or maybe a person stretched out or squashed.
2. Anticipation
This is used to prepare people for a action when they are watching something. This could be simply somebody on screen and turning their head to watch somebody else walk on. This would appear as a less physical action as were a more realistic action could be a golfer about to hit the ball but first he needs to swing the golf club back.
3. Straight ahead action and pose to pose
These two principles are used within the drawing process. Straight ahead action means somebody drawing out a scene frame by frame from the beginning to the end. This is drawing out every action and every move within the scene. By doing this is creates a more better look at movement and making them look realistic.
Pose to pose means only drawing out a few frames and then filling out the rest of the frames as the scene goes on. This works better for dramatic, emotional scenes as the surrounding become important.
4. Follow - through
This means that a certain part of the body will continue moving even though it has stopped. A footballer will kick a ball but even though he has kicked it the foot and leg will still carry on moving in the same direction.
5. Weight
Weight is used to show how big or small an object is. If a elephant was walking on screen then the way it walks will be heavy and slow so this is suggesting that the elephant has a lot of weight as were if a cat walked on screen, the walk will be quick and light so this is suggesting the cat is light.
6. Overlapping - action
This is were a person changes direction but still parts of the body continue to go in the same direction is was previously going. If a somebody was walking to the right but then quickly turned around and started walkin to the left then certain parts of the body would still be going to the right as this could be the hair or maybe the arms. | |

| Looking detailed so far, you should start rounding the head off more before putting too much detail in the features of the face otherwise you'll end up having to change the facial features to go with the curve of the face. | |

| It's all looking good, brosephine. The sketches, in particular, are really good. They give you a real good idea of how the model will look. I'm also liking the head so far, but you're gonna have to start rounding it off and adding more details like the ears. I look forward to seeing the finished thing. | |

| Alex is right, the sketches are looking really good. Hopefully when we see more of your character she'll be looking something like one of those. My personal favourite was the one with the most cleavage. YOU ALL KNOW WHO I MEAN D: | |
