Unit 65 Task 1 Empty
PostSubject: Unit 65 Task 1   Unit 65 Task 1 EmptySat Oct 24, 2009 4:29 pm

Follow-Through: This is when the movement of an object is continued because of its momentum. For example, when someone throws a ball, the hand throwing the ball continues to move after the ball has left the hand.

Exaggeration: Exaggeration can be used in many ways for animation. It could be used as a means to emphasize something to the viewer, or it could be used as a unique character design, purposefully making a part of the character's body disproportionate to the rest.

Secondary Action: Is when an initial action causes a second reaction to occur. For example a ball being hit into the net would cause the net to move and ripple.

Overlapping Action: Is when you start a second action before the first action has ended. This helps to keep the animation running fluidly as no one has to stop doing one action to begin another.

Staging: Is a way to lead the viewers eye to where the action will be. For this to occur the centre of attention must be conrasted by the rest of the scene. For example if the scene is still the eye will be drawn to parts with motion and vice versa.

Squash and Stretch: This is used to make an object seem more realistic, expecially when it hits another object. Real objects deform in some way when they move or collide and by incorporating this into animation it makes the object seem more real. For example, a ball being thrown at the floor will squash slightly when it impacts.

All the principles!

Hi Karl,

It would be nice to see some of the head development, could you go through some of your saves and take some quick screen shots Smile

Wow Karl this looks awesome, can we get some screen-shots of the work leading up to this point though, like of you making the arms and legs and such, also are you going to be adding hair to your character because his head is oddly shaped otherwise.

This is looking really good, Karl. However, I'm noticing that his head is a strange shape, though that may just be the way the camera is angled. You could import a picture of a head into the viewport of cinema so that you could make sure you've got it spot on. Keep up the good work, bro.

Karl, this look sexy. I'd like to see how you made each part though, maybe take a few screenshots of wireframes, and a close up of the head? This definitely looks promising though.

Thanks. I'll go back through my old saves but they're all just made from cylinders. Literally the only thing done to them is moving the vertices around so I don't save in the middle of it =/

I'll have a look.

Now that we know how to do the fancy smancy body paint texturing mlarky you should be able to create some rad textures for the coat, belt and (non existant) hat of your character. If those turn out good I'm sure the whole thing will be sick. Keep it up, brah.

WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WAS

You're a big show off
But the reason is there, that model is bloody brilliant. I can't see his feet though, which is becoming a constant problem with everyone in this class. Still, the texturing is looking really good and his head is nice.

I agree with Adele, the jacket is really good, looks realistic!
But yeah, bit more colour would be good, unless he's meant to be a dark character ofc.
