| Got bored of slow walking speed was told that figth scene played out complty diffrently depending on sucessful or failed inputs no matter what always pretty muched ended up, on table, up agaisnt fridge, plate glass. Slow walking speed really retarded. I'd say its good visauly (but what isn't these days) but game wise your an idiot to buy it for more than £20 | |

| Indeed...
Still, the style is quite unique,
I liked the look of how the story played out... sorta like a movie...
How much would I pay for a movie? I guess you're right, about £20...
Do you know of any other games that have a similar feel?

| I haven't even played it but its worth full price... I've paid more for much less before so yeah
Slow walking speed doesn't mean it loses £20 in value imo

But is it cheaper to pre-order?
Or does the price come down when it hits the shelves?

| Its not just slow walkign speed that moves it down, yes it is orginal and everything but its the whole its a film you controll but would you pay £40 for a movie? only other simalr games I guess would be old FMV games. | |

| yeah well technically if you look at it this way. I've paid £10-£15 for a 2 hour dvd... This is what? 8-12 hours maybe? I have no idea, not to mention it has multiple playthroughs =p I guess i'd pay £40 for a movie that long yeah, if it was good of course. | |

| Good point. The replay value is very high. You can change the events of the story over and over. Apparently, even killing a character doesn't end the story! AND if you pre-order, you get a prequel story of one of the characters free... So yeh, I'd say it is a pretty good deal... | |

| i personally really liked it, i agreed that its just an interactive movie, but what game isnt nowadays, just shoot through a level till you get to a cutscene. with the exception of rts' and rpg's. still the style is great, and the facial animation and variety of ways the game can turn out is what sells it for me anyway. game like this is fahrenheit [think thats how you spell] by the same company - quantic dream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaNMC8pqtqk&feature=related | |

| Well all games have cut scenes like films yeah but you can't say they're an interactive movie you don't change cutscenes (unless QTE) heavy rain is a cutscene you interact with and change its an experiment with gaming and last one of them I bought was mirror's edge so never again will I pay full price for a game thats a new diffrent idea just for the chance I'm gonna regret it. | |

| heavy rains gameplay is split thought, from detective work and then the qte's so it still retains game elements, maybe not fps game elements but still a game none the less. and mirrors edge was a good game. agreed with the lack of good story, the things that they could of done with it, and the 5 hour gameplay. but its was a really enjoyable experience and no one else has attempted to recreate or monopolise on it | |

| mirrors edge was a good game apart from crap story shourt story Horrible shooting sections Loads of indoor missons Game based on speed then give you a horrible turning speed so can't see behind you when hanging from a ledge No one copied it for a reason and imo fps platformer could not be more stupid idea have to look down to judge when to jump but then you can't see where you jumping to by time you looked up you have missed your chance to grab on to stuff | |

| Mirrors Edge was awesome FPS elements were dead good cause all the guns were really strong You can tell because they must have weighed about 10 kilos since they slow you down so much but it dm because it's good and you can shoot them but the game doesn't want you to but i did it anyway because when i play fps i pretend i'm master cheif Halo invented fps IMO | |

| Halo invented side scrolling platformers too. Mario would be nowhere without Master Cheif. | |

| Benzaie of Blistered Thumbs and ThatGuyWithTheGlasses did a playthrough of the prologue and a few minutes of the start.
It does look like it's got a lot in common with Fahrenheit. But it also seems to have similarities with Shenmue and Michigan: Report from Hell.
I checked out reviews of it this week and a lot of them are saying that the biggest flaw in the game they've consistantly praised is it's slow start and slow walks.
We'll all just have to see...

| indeed...
the start of the game (the tutorial) is apparently VERY long...
Watching gameplay, even after the trailer, you have to play along before you get to the action...
But without an introduction, the story wouldn't be as good. There'd be plot holes galore, and then people would diss the game for that too...
As we've said from the beginning, we'll just have to wait and see...

| I think the main problem with Heavy Rain is that it crosses the line that seperates video games from interactive stories/movies. At times it feels like they sacrificed good game design and player enjoyment just so that it would be a more cinematic and realistic experience. I mean, that whole walking thing is ridiculous.
Now for a game that was the right amount of video game and interactive story, well
Would you like to play a game of lucky hit?
