| Since I'm pretty shocked by the lack of "Old School Awareness" some folks have, I'm directing you guys towards methods of playing games I grew up with. http://www.dosbox.com/http://www.scummvm.org/Dunno if I'm allowed to post up the actual games, but I if you look hard enough you could probably find working torrents yourselves. I can only suggest games. Notably Full Throttle, the Kings Quest series (5+ are the best in my opinion), Afterlife, the Space Quest series, the Monkey Island series, the original Broken Swords and The Dig. Some of them are stellar examples on writing stories for videogames and influenced a lot of non-adventure based games. There's also some games with live action filming involved that are brilliant for their time. I dunno if they work completely but I'll test them out soon. A couple of examples of those would be Phantasmagoria 1 and 2, The Daedalus Encounter, Quantum Gate and it's sequel The Vortex. The latter two are a prime example that the idea of video games being more like films is an old one. Happy hunting! | |
