| Unit 33: Task 1 Traditional Principles of Animation 1. Anticipation A part in the animation in which the audience will anticipate what will happen next, due to the current situation on screen. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u14T5wzicqw when bugs bunny turns the gun at him again and says rabbit season he confuses daffy duck and then we anticipate he gets shot. 2. Exaggeration An action in which over gestures a particular action or a result of an action appearing in the cartoon, to get the point the across. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gItNmJ2rBy0 the action spike makes after being hit by the bat. 3. Squash And Stretch An unrealistic action which causes massive porpotionly errors to emphasise the point on the reaction or the result of the action. E.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBL0iICws9w&feature=related after wilie e coyote releases the anvil from the balloon we see this motion, also when he first starts his jet motor and then his fall. 4. Staging A particular angle in which you can clearly see all actions on the particular scene. E.g the actions which will be affecting the scene, conversations, background characters, so making sure the viewer can see everything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8u-nbRNIfQ&feature=related the way you can see the crowd escaping from the tasmanian devil, at that angle. 5. Weight Weight gives a presence to character on screen and gives it a persona and more meaning depending on the weight, for example a elephant is a very large and heavy animal so its movement would be very heavy in comparsion to a cat; which would be alot more light footed, silent and nimble; this makes the characters more believeable and more realistic, than for example an elephant tip toeing and being very agile that would not be very realistic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnT2uAyG9oE the animals move in a different sense according to there weight, the moose is heavy footed, where as the monkey is light footed. | |

| The development is looking good up to now paul! I like your idea of choosing a 4 legged creature for the walk cycle.
I would also so the first video worked better, which is the slower version, the fast 1 looks too quick and weird lol

| Love the fact you've taken the challenge of FOUR legs. Keep it up, 'cos I can't wait to see the finished product. | |

| It's alright.
It does look a little wonky, and the leg kick id quite obvious, but other than that...
Maybe you should animate each pair of legs individualy and then put them all together.
That might make it easier.

| The problem with the back legs is that it takes less frames to pass for the background leg to be lifted up, moved forwards and placed down again. it also moves more in comparison to the other legs during those few frames. I think the difference is about one frame, but it's very noticeable.
Fix that and you'll be well on the road to Sortedville.

| that's looking fantastic, stick a rectangle for its head first before you add any detail to make sure it works and you can animate it well. | |

| yeh the cycle looks great, but the head and tail look a bit static compared to the movment of the body. The base of the tail works fine it's the end of the tail thats the problem, so far it has no rythym to it, you should go for a simple sway up and down at the end, also the head should point up and down more and in an opposite motion to the tail. | |

| really like the bod movement but you need to make the head an tail move more realistic . so it goes with the rest of it | |
